Variety – the Children’s Charity of Alberta Association (Variety Alberta) provides support to families in Calgary and throughout Alberta who have children living with disabilities. 

Through education, advocacy, and community outreach, we support children who are facing physical, developmental, emotional, or learning challenges. 

In collaboration with other service delivery organizations we are creating supportive, ability-diverse communities that address safety, inclusive and accessible environments, and support the growth and development of children with specialized needs to gain greater independence and positive life experiences. 

We believe that: 

• Everyone has the right to be accepted for who they are;
• All individuals regardless of ability, gender, race, socioeconomic status, etc. have equal rights and equitable access to opportunities and resources; 
• Barriers can be removed through education, increased awareness, and creating environments of acceptance, understanding, and celebration of differences; 
• Everyone has the right to play and shouldn’t be excluded because the design space did not take into consideration their specialized needs; and 
• We can have an inclusive and accessible Alberta for children living with disabilities.
