We are a non-profit organisation helping self-identified women foster health, wellness and equity through feminist approaches to advocacy, shared knowledge and low-barrier programs and services.

Originally, in the 70', the collective worked as a meeting place for women to discuss their experiences and challenges with the health care system. Over the years, the VWHC has been active in a variety of ways based on women’s needs, the political climate, our volunteer power and expertise and of course, funding challenges. While the initiatives undertaken by the VWHC have changed over the years, our aim has remained the same since 1971…empowering women to take control of their health through self-advocacy, information and knowledge.

Currently, the focus of our services is to offer a safe, secure, women-only Resource Centre located in the heart of the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver.  Services are free of charge, or by donation: access to computers, Yoga, Pilates, Acupuncture, Wellness Counselling, Health and wellness workshops, free baked goods and sandwiches,free hygiene products, and distribution of donated make-up, clothing, and linen & blankets. The Vancouver Women’s Health Collective also hosts a Nurse Practitioner community clinic.
