Our Mission

Our mission is to raise awareness about local marine biodiversity and promote respect for the ocean environment. We greet visitors from all over the world treating them to a very personal view of the fish and invertebrates from our local waters in Clayoquot and Barkley Sounds.

About Us

 We are Canada's first catch-and-release aquarium. We are open from March 1st to late November every season. Our animals come from local waters and are released back into the wild. Not only does this practice minimize our impact on the environment, it keeps our displays new and interesting. 

Visitors to the Ucluelet Aquarium can expect an up close and personal encounter with a wide range of marine life including fish and invertebrates. We provide a stimulating “hands on” learning environment for children of all ages. we don’t expect the displays to communicate for themselves. Knowledgeable staff members are always available to provide interpretation, discuss ideas about marine biology, human’s relationship to the ocean, or whatever comes to mind as you ponder the displays. Come join us!
