Our Mission To protect the environment by planting native trees and shrubs in the Hamilton area.
Our Background
We believe there is a strong link between trees and human health. The more trees the better!
We intend that over 90% of our funds will go into the purchase of trees. The trees are then transported and planted by volunteers. In 2019, over 98% of our donations went directly into purchasing trees. Our Board of Directors covers all administrative costs.
We have partnered with Hamilton Parks, Royal Botanical Gardens, Hamilton Conservation Authority, local hospitals and Long Term Care facilities in some of our previous plantings.
We usually plant small trees which come in 1-2 gallon pots. These small trees are more resilient than seedlings and do not suffer root shock, which can be a problem for larger trees. The trees cost approximately $8-10 each , so we can buy ten trees for $100.
In 2020 we will be doing plantings at the Hamilton General Hospital, St. Peter's Hospital, city-managed Vanier Towers, McMaster University, Valen's Conservation area and other sites TBD.
