Our Mission
Touchstone Theatre produces and presents plays from Canada/Turtle Island — giving first and future productions to voices that are daring, exciting, current, and representative of the diversity and pluralism in our country. We explore contemporary Canadian plays through content and form, stimulating public interest in and engagement with modern cultural perspectives. We maintain an open curiosity about what "Canadian Theatre" is, and what it can be. We strive to foster a space which is safe, supportive, and brave, where artists can do their best work.
Our Vision
We seek to build a world where Canadian Theatre is synonymous with a high level of artistic quality, rigour, and integrity. Where the voices we see represented on stage are as diverse as our nation is, making room at the table for people who have been historically and systemically excluded from our community. We seek to raise the profile of Canadian Theatre nationally and internationally, while holding a high standard of care for our Artists and Community.
About TOUCHSTONE THEATRE SOCIETY
For over 47 years, Touchstone Theatre has been a mainstay of theatrical innovation and excellence on the West Coast. The company’s all-Canadian mandate has helped launch and develop some of the country’s foremost theatre-artists, particularly playwrights, and its substantial body of work has garnered over 70 local and national awards.
Now in its fifth decade of production Touchstone remains a lightning rod of theatrical activity. Its purely Canadian focus makes it unique in its region, and its reputation for excellence has earned the respect of audience, critics and colleagues. Touchstone's current Artistic Director is Lois Anderson.
