Our Mission
The Toronto Youth Theatre (TYT) is a registered charity that is dedicated to giving people between the ages 14 and 29 the chance to work and perform in a professional theatre setting. Our fundamental goal is to assist in the personal, cultural, and social development of young people through the practice of theatre – empowering them to develop their own artistic voice under the mentorship of professional artists and educators.
The Toronto Youth Theatre is open to students of all backgrounds, regardless of experience or financial status. Over the rehearsal period, TYT members work with professional actors, directors, choreographers, and musicians, many of whom work with major Canadian theatre companies.
Whoever wishes to participate or join TYT is accepted.
History
Since 2005 the Toronto Youth Theatre has strived to produce uncompromising theatre productions and performances with young actors. The fundamental goal is to assist in the personal, cultural, and social development of young people through the practice of theatre – empowering them to develop their own artistic voice under the mentorship of professional artists and educators. Today, the charity has more than 45 shows under its belt, and has positioned itself as one of Toronto’s leading youth theatre organizations.
