The Toronto Council on Aging (TCA) is a registered, non-profit organization that addresses the issues and concerns of older adults in Toronto. The TCA advocates on behalf of seniors, educating on issues that matter to seniors and connects seniors with each other and the wider community while respecting the diversity of our members and other stakeholders.

Toronto Council on Aging (TCA)  Program Highlights

  • Hosted a free webinar series with 190 registered participants and 9 partner organizations
  • Organized and delivered a Friendly call campaign in Spring 2020 to check-in on TCA members
  • Shared resource sheets featuring information relevant to older adults on the TCA website
  • Created a dedicated Youtube channel to support knowledge mobilization and to share past recording of TCA hosted webinars and special events
  • Assessed approximately 20 libraries for age-friendliness in a project partnership with the TCA and the Toronto Public Library
  • Collaborated with over 20 older adult volunteers to co-develop and led the implementation of the Age-Friendly Ambassadors community project
  • Co-leading a study on seniors housing and development in partnership with SHS Consulting, Collaborative Aging, SvN Architects + Planners, and the Ontario Association for Councils on Aging. The project, entitled: "Enabling Citizen-Led Housing: New Models for Seniors’ Housing Design and Development is an initiative funded by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), through the National Housing Strategy’s Solutions Lab program
  • The Lab continues to brings seniors, housing developers, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders together to create a set of co-design planning tools, methods, and processes to forge new forms of partnerships and relationships between citizens, community organizations, and the private sector
