About Portal Youth Outreach Association

The Portal Youth Outreach Association is dedicated to reducing youth homelessness and supporting young people aged 16-24 who are at risk or currently experiencing homelessness across the region, from Digby to West Hants. We offer a range of programs, services, and supports that meet youth where they are — whether in one of our spaces, in the community, or through outreach initiatives. At The Portal, we are committed to walking alongside youth, providing the resources, skills, and support they need to achieve stability and success.

Our work goes beyond just providing shelter. We focus on supporting youth with everything from basic needs like food, housing, and hygiene to crucial services such as education, employment, and mental health resources. Whether youth come to us for a safe space, help navigating systems, or access to life skills training, we offer compassionate, wrap-around support tailored to their individual needs.

In addition to supporting youth, we have expanded our services to include young families in need of housing and support, offering them a safe place to live while they work toward building a better future. Serving youth and young families across the region, we are committed to building a supportive community where all young people and their families can thrive.
