Our Mission, Vision and Values
Our Mission: To scan the globe for fresh cultural content and use it to stage experiences that stimulate transformative connections for our audiences.
Our Vision: To awe, inspire and enlighten.
Our Values:
- Experiential Learning -- We view learning as an active, lifelong creative process, and strive to spark this process for people of all ages.
- Unexpected Intersections -- "Art and technology at play," our original motto, stands as an enduring example of our broader approach-stimulating curiosity, exploration and engagement with things usually considered to be unrelated.
- Diverse Voices -- We treasure progressive, innovative and distinctive points of view and we strive to give them a stage so long as they are seen to build, not detract from, our experience and understanding as families and as a community.
At THEMUSEUM
THEMUSEUM serves audiences of all ages with four programming "pillars": exhibitions, community stage events, family experiences, and THEMUSEUM After Dark (MAD). We host contemporary new media and visual arts exhibitions, interactive educational installations, and share local art and community issues. Experts and compelling guest speakers contribute to our Dialogues and Panel Discussions each month; additional public programs and special events include daily craft sessions, family events, exhibition tours, and special holiday programming. We provide curriculum-linked educational programming for school groups, camps and PA Days, both in-person and through online Virtual Field Trips.
Over 90,000 visitors a year participate in our unusual, dynamic and thought-provoking exhibits and programs. THEMUSEUM is a clever, family-friendly tourist destination at the very heart of the City of Kitchener that also provides an essential community space and platform for Region of Waterloo arts and culture.
