Let's work together to end homelessness in Burnaby!
The Society to End Homelessness was established in 2017 by the multi-stakeholder Burnaby Task Force on Homelessness (formed in 2005) to build sustainability and provide leadership in the reduction and resolution of homelessness in Burnaby.
The Society to End Homelessness In Burnaby is committed to working with all levels of government, the health authority, social service agencies and other non profit organizations, businesses, faith communities, and concerned citizens to ensure the provision of housing, support services and adequate income for Burnaby residents who are unsheltered or at risk of homelessness in Burnaby.
On a weekly basis we assist individuals or families who are or are at risk of becoming homeless because of poverty by operating and maintaining low barrier programs and facilities to enable such persons to obtain clothing, toiletries, a nutritious meal as well as referrals to housing and other social services.
With the increasing cost of living, we now serve 150% more guests at our Outreach Centres. This is why the Society to End Homelessness In Burnaby is asking you to please, if you are able to do so, consider making a one-time special donation to support the work to provide support services for people in Burnaby who are homeless.
Your donation will help maintain the programs and services we offer to our guests including:
Outreach Resource CentresA "One-Stop Shop" of services for our vulnerable neighbours so they can easily access basic life necessities and resources for social aid in one convenient location. Our 2 locations operate weekly Wednesday and Thursday in South Burnaby.
Community Food HubRun in partnership with The Neighbourhood Church, the Food Hub is a safe, non-judgemental space where our community’s most vulnerable can receive essential grocery items with dignity. We operate weekly besides cheque issue week.
Mobile Shower ProgramWe offer our guests biweekly access to the basic necessity of a hot shower in an effort to combat the negative stigma of poor hygiene amongst those experiencing homelessness. Guests are provided with fresh towels, clothing, and hygiene supplies.
Extreme Weather ResponseEWR makes sheltering spaces available when the weather is severe enough to pose a higher health risk to people who are unsheltered. It operates during times of extreme heat or cold.
