THHS is a network of 6 shelters, mental health supports, social enterprises, and transitional supports for people experiencing homelessness.
Every night, at least 9,000 Torontonians sleep on the streets, in an emergency shelter or in temporary accommodations. Thousands more live in precarious situations, at risk for homelessness. That is just not right!
In Toronto, six Salvation Army shelters—Maxwell Meighen Centre, New Hope Leslieville, The Gateway, Florence Booth House, Islington Seniors' Shelter and Evangeline Residence—offer an open door, welcome and support to people in crisis. Integrated as Toronto Housing and Homeless Supports in 2013, these shelters meet basic needs for food, shelter and clothing, as well as provide pastoral care, addictions counselling and housing help. We also continue the operation of 2 additional hotel shelter programs which began in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Toronto Housing and Homeless Supports also manages social enterprises and other services that help shelter residents transition into their own housing.
