Fun, entertaining, inclusive community theatre & events!
WHO WE ARE
We are the Royal Canadian Theatre Company: A semi-professional theatre company founded in 2006 by the core creative team from the Raymond Burr Performing Arts Centre (2000 - 2005). RCTC presents professional and semi-professional plays and events in Surrey and New Westminster, also touring to other theatres in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. We specialize in fun, entertaining theatre generally suitable for all ages.
WHAT WE DO
We present three theatrical performances every year during the fall, winter and spring as well as different events including: Club Royale, One Act Play Festival and acting classes for children and youth.
We offer a special Youth Mentorship programme which culminates in our annual Christmas Pantomime. Everyone is welcome regardless of age, ability, background, culture or sexual identity and over the years we have helped many youngsters (and some 'not so youngsters'!) overcome issues such as anxiety, depression, behavioural issues and more. We employee many creatives in Surrey, Langley, New Westminster and the surrounding areas. We create and run the Amazing Cardboard Kingdom at Surrey Children's Festival each year.
We operate the Studio at 10660 City Parkway, Surrey on behalf of the City of Surrey and sponsor and support other artists to use the facility, as well as presenting our own musical and other events there.
FOR OUR COMMUNITY
We are the ONLY theatre company outside of Vancouver to offer Relaxed Performances* of our shows. These performances are adjusted to accommodate our audiences with intellectual or other disabilities, and are offered at 50% of regular ticket prices.
We further give back to our communities by providing free tickets, participating in community events, offering work to local talented creatives and other volunteers and by keeping our ticket prices affordable. Members of our Team are also deeply involved in community activities - sitting on the Arts Council of Surrey and the Festival of Dance boards, taking part in the Surrey Board of Trade Tourism, Arts and Culture Team, Surrey Civic Treasures Round Tables and being active in many meetings, networking events, discussions and more pertaining to the arts.
