For the last 4 years I have been part of the St. Catherine’s team raising money for our local Lookout Shelter. Along with St. John’s Anglican Church we have raised over $66,000. Homelessness is epidemic in our community. We saw just a week ago that a homeless man burned to death in his makeshift shelter near the Irons Workers bridge. I do this because I can. Because I have a warm safe home to live in. I have enough food and creature comforts. The pandemic had really shown us how to be compassionate and to value our community. I’m not 100% sure what sleeping in my car will look like as we cannot meet in groups like previous years but it will be, none the less.
