The New Mom Project is a registered charitable organization based in Toronto and run by volunteers. We are trying to fill a void that has become noticeable to all involved. There are women that are starting their new lives as mothers without the basic necessities to care for a baby. This is not acceptable in a city like Toronto, so we decided to do something about it.
Our programs are confidential, non-judgmental and always free. We believe that all new families deserve support. Our Baby Bundles program include new items such as diapers, baby wipes, blankets, pjs and toiletry set. Our Travel Bundles program provide Strollers and car seats, but availability for both our programs is based on the generosity of our donors.
The New Mom Project was founded by Gwen Broda, a Toronto mom of 3 and nurse who experienced the hardships of a being a working mom yet not qualifying for maternity leave benefits. She was initially inspired by the Finnish Baby Box program and decided to apply those principles here in Toronto to support families in need provide for their new babies. She sees The New Mom Project as an umbrella organization that is able to support all of the health care workers in Toronto and the GTA support the families they are working with. Gwen cares very deeply about the health of families and supporting moms in their motherhood journey, as it takes a village to raise happy, healthy children. The New Mom Project is that village for many Toronto families with no where else to turn.
