The Naval Museum of Alberta Society (NMAS) is a non-profit society. It was founded in 1988 as an organization to support the search for, acquisition, collection, restoration and preservation of artifacts reflecting the contributions of Canadians who have served at home and abroad and on the high seas in the Royal Canadian Navy. The Society's collection is primarily housed at the Naval Museum of Alberta in The Military Museums complex in Calgary.
The Society Office, artifact storage area, and workshop are housed on the HMCS Tecumseh property in Calgary, Alberta Canada.
The Society has evolved from a Museum operator to a supporter of the Naval Museum of Alberta. Such support includes financial support to education programs, collection acquisition and restoration. It also provides volunteer Watch-keeper docents, interpretive guides, restoration volunteers, archival collection volunteers, office volunteers and an active Board of Directors.
We believe that the Canadian naval story, past and present, is exciting, engaging and worth telling.
Our mission is to tell the story of Canada's Navy.
Our vision is a community that is informed, excited about and engaged with Canada’s navy and its naval heritage.
