A seafarer's workload, lack of sleep and high pressures of the job contribute to feelings of isolation and mental health challenges. According to one study, a quarter of seafarers show signs of depression.

Dr. Larry Crabb in his book called Connecting, says, "There's something about togetherness, at any level, that affects the heart...the surest route to overcoming problems and becoming the people we were meant to be is reconnecting with God and with our community."

To this end, we have been providing monthly events for seafarers for the purpose of offering more connection with our staff and volunteers and with other seafarers. Examples of events have included pumpkin carving, games night, music Fridays, and a pancake breakfast.
