Our Goal

The goal of Gathering Place is to foster among guests independence, self-respect and dignity. Further, interdependence and personal growth are cultivated through a network of community partnerships.

About THE GATHERING PLACE

The Gathering Place, now in it's 30th year, is a Primary Health Centre in St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador that strives to meet the essential needs of marginalized persons within our society. Through core values of respect, care and compassion, our volunteers and support staff share a commitment to a community that witnesses diversity, inclusion and hope in a low barrier environment. 

The number of persons seeking assistance from The Gathering Place continues to rise as does the complexity of the cycle of poverty; mental illness, addictions and homelessness. We continue to work collaboratively with community partners, Eastern Health and Government to ensure that essential programs and services are offered in the place where marginalized persons feel safe and will access needed resources.

The Gathering Place remains a “hub” that welcomes individuals from across the province and indeed the country.
