Do you want to make a difference? We do too!
Awenda Provincial Park protects: wildlife (including Species-at-Risk) and their habitats; provincially unique landscapes and geologic features; and 11,000 years of documented human habitation.
Where’s Awenda Provincial Park?
Awenda PP is located in Tiny, Ontario northwest of the Town of Penetanguishene (2 hours north of Toronto, and only 1 hour north of Barrie).
What we’ve accomplished and raised in 25 years…
- $81,950 in Independent Research and Publications
- $131,500 in Human Resource Contributions (Interpretive Staff)
- $27,650 in enhanced equipment to Natural Heritage Department & Guest Speakers
- $24,500 in Interpretive/Education Trailside Panels
Why do we need your help?
Every year we have goals of increasing education staff numbers or contract length, funding unique research projects, and donating equipment and enhanced interpretive supplies. Also, we hold events like Awenda Inspired, a one-day Art Festival, to celebrate art history in the park and to continue the tradition of Awenda Park inspired artistic expression. We want to help park users (local and far-away campers and day-use) to have an enhanced experience of discovery and a shared desire to protect this unique gem on the shores of Southern Georgian Bay.
PIECING TOGETHER OUR SHARED PAST...
A book of the complete cultural history of Awenda Provincial Park with attractive original source illustrations, documents, and photographs. 300 hours of volunteer time have been logged already in the sourcing of primary and secondary documents at museums and archives around the Province. Now we need an academic professional to weave it together. Help us make this provincially and nationally significant publication happen! (Select History Book)
