The Fort Saskatchewan Food Gatherers Society operates the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank, the only Food Bank serving the City of Fort Saskatchewan. Programs provide both emergency food support and supplemental resources to those in our community coping with food insecurity. The Society is fully supported by community donations and is not government funded. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the operations of the Society and overseeing the volunteer team of approximately 130 individuals. 

Food support can be accessed on Hamper Days: Tuesday & Thursday.  Hampers are filled with staple non-perishable items and include fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and pastry, milk, eggs and meat. 

Additional supplies are available through the biweekly Shopping Day program. This program facilitates the client's personal selection of toiletries, personal care items, cleaning supplies, additional food and other household items. 

The office is open to the community Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. 

The Society undertakes the annual Christmas Hamper & Toy Campaign. This program is the primary Christmas assistance resource for City residents, providing holiday food hampers and toy packages, for those who apply.  Christmas hampers and toys are delivered to the recipient's homes by the community on the annual Hamper Delivery Day. 

The Society administers a school snack program, to address the needs of children coming to school hungry. This program is operated within all the Fort Saskatchewan schools.  The Food Bank also partners with many community agencies and service providers, providing food and resources to assist in their programming.
