Our Mission
The Family Support Group provides a range of programs that bring comfort and fulfillment to the residents of Extendicare Starwood Long Term Care Home.
- Friendly Companions help residents cope with daily living by providing one-on-one visits.
- Music Program enhances participant quality of life and helps to slow mental and physical deterioration.
- TLC Program provides emotional support to residents who do not have a strong family support system.
What Is the Family Support Group?
The Family Support Group of Extendicare Starwood is a volunteer organization created in 1993 to serve the residents of Starwood and their families. It provides special programs not available from Extendicare or the Government of Ontario. These programs depend on dedicated volunteers and are funded by donations from families and by various fundraising campaigns and activities throughout the year. The Family Support Group has charitable status and issues tax receipts.
