THE BLOOM GROUP

about

The Bloom Group responds to the most urgent needs of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

The Bloom Group (formerly known as St. James Community Services) has been active since 1961. We are doing the heavy lifting in building and retaining places for 2000 people to live in Vancouver each year.

Donate to:

Help us help women-led families in crisis stay together and rebuild through women-and-children emergency shelter, and programming.

Stay on the frontlines to house people with mental health and addictions, in supportive housing with nurses on site.

Keep 700 low-income seniors safely housed in apartments. They deserve to stay in the city where they've lived and worked for decades.

Support vulnerable seniors safety from financial predators through Adult Guardianship (Bloom pays their bills and watches for financial abuse). Our hundreds of small, monthly donors have stuck with us for decades. You keep Vancouver's low-barrier services running and accessible regardless of people's circumstances.

Work with us to find solutions to end poverty and homelessness.

The Bloom Group operates:

  • Shelters and second-stage housing for women and women-led families (Powell Place and Springhouse)
  • Housing for people with mental health challenges (Victory House and Santiago Lodge, Cecelia House, Somerville Place)
  • Housing for people with chronic health challenges and other barriers (Cordova House)
  • A financial management and pension administration program for vulnerable seniors and others (Adult Guardianship)
  • Affordable housing facilities (The View, Nicholson Tower)
