The Hangar Flight Museum exists to inspire dreams of flight. We provide a rich understanding and appreciation of the evolution of flight by telling stories related to our collections that provide inspiration to current and future generations. Our focus is on Western Canadian aviation, from northern exploration to transportation to warbirds. We have tailored field trips to the grade six curriculum with flight and aerodynamics. We love seeing the science of flight come alive for the students. Bringing in youth groups for evening programming and sleepovers is another way that we bring aviation to life.
We are proud to be located on the corner of McKnight Blvd and McCall Way, two streets named after local aviation heroes. The building that the museum calls home was a Second World War drill hall for the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Keeping our artifacts safe, and this historical building is an artifact in and of itself, is one of our main purposes. One of our greatest joys is hearing the excitement from our young visitors when they first walk into our hangar. The exclamations of "wow" and "it's a real airplane" make all of our hard work worthwhile. Your donation today will help us keep aviation history alive and will inspire our visitors every day.
