about

The Talent Fund supports Telefilm Canada's Talent to Watch program — a program unlike any other in Canada. This initiative is dedicated to the discovery, development, and promotion of talented emerging filmmakers, specifically prioritizing those who self-identify as Indigenous, Black, a Person of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, a woman, a Person with Disabilities, and/ or an official language minority community member.

As a career accelerator and launchpad, the Talent to Watch program contributes to a thriving film industry, and helps the next generation of storytellers embark on careers with longevity and impact.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

• support first-time filmmakers from across the country;

• prioritize emerging creators from underrepresented communities;

• help emerging talent develop their skills, professional portfolio, and industry experience;

• foster community and knowledge-sharing through professional mentorship, education, and networking opportunities.

Telefilm Canada is a Crown Corporation. As a qualified donee as classified by the Canada Revenue Agency, donations to the Talent Fund and Telefilm are gifts to the Crown and eligible for charitable tax receipts.

What people are saying

“The Talent Fund gave me the opportunity to make a first feature through which I could explore my artistic voice and my identity as a hyphenated Canadian. It sets the bar for what public funds for the arts should be: accessible, peer-juried, and free of creative restrictions.”

Martin Edralin, Director/Writer, ISLANDS
