Breaking the Silence support for communities affected by the Volcan de Fuego eruptionSeveral communities affected by the Volcan de Fuego are supported by the CCDA (the Highlands Committee of Small Farmers), a longtime Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence partner. The CCDA is active in supporting victims and survivors, including setting up a donations centre. In some communities where there were no fatalities, residents are deeply concerned at the loss of homes and livelihoods . A CCDA representative has said residents no longer want to stay in the communities close to Ground Zero. The CCDA recognizes that support work may likely include long term work to support communities in relocation and access to land.
