Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) is a community –based organization that has been providing community services for people on the Sunshine Coast since 1974. We are a non-government organization overseen by a volunteer board of directors, funded by government contracts, foundations and community donations. We meet the growing needs of our community by bringing resources and tools to our most vulnerable community members and those who need support to reach their goals.
Our services support pregnant women and new parents, families, children, youth, adults, and seniors through provision of crisis response, support programs, housing, and advocacy. Our programs reach thousands of community members in need through four areas:
Community Action and Engagement
Community Action and Engagement programs support people helping people – nurturing connections, linking to resources, and building the support that enables our community to thrive. Some of these programs include the SCCSS Food Bank, Thrift Store, Keeping People Housed, Arrowhead Clubhouse and our Better at Home seniors program.
Family, Youth and Children's Services
Family, Youth and Children's Services programs are family-centered, inclusive and promote active participation in supporting pregnant women, new moms, parents, caregivers and children. We also provideprevention, intervention and support programs for children with a developmental delay or diagnosed disability. Some of these programs include Bellies and Babies and Youth in Transition..
Child and Family Counselling
Child and Family Counselling provides individual and group counselling for families, children, youth and adults. We use a collaborative approach, build on strengths and help develop positive relationships, helping families find their best solutions. Some of these programs include Family Support Services and Children’s Mental Health.
Together Against Violence
Together Against Violence programs support people whose lives have been impacted by violence and trauma. Programs provide crisis intervention, shelter, counselling, advocacy and non-judgmental emotional and practical support. Some of these programs include Yew Transition House, Police Based Victim Services and Women’s Outreach.
We are honoured to provide services on the unceded, ancestral and traditional lands of the shíshálh (Sechelt) Nation and the Skwxwu7mesh Uxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
