Welcome to our 2024 Crowdfunding Campaign! Our theme is Creating CommUNITY. Student Open Circles (SOC) supports McMaster University students in building authentic connections with themselves, others, and while making a difference through service in the community.

This year, your gifts will be generously supported by a matching gift! The first $5,000 will be matched, doubling the impact of your donation*! A gift of any size can help give a student the support they need to grow, thrive, and give back to the community during their time at school. You will be supporting safe, respectful, inclusive spaces for students to reflect on purpose, values, social responsibility, spirituality, and mental health. Through volunteering, on campus reflection, and skill-building, you will be funding a space for them to experiment, grow, learn and make mistakes together.

Student Open Circles has been a consistent place of radical acceptance and unconditional support for me since the beginning of university. I have always felt at home within this kind-hearted and authentic community. It’s widespread impact on the Hamilton community is nothing short of an inspiration. (Ghuram)

Facilitators Jeff and Marybeth meet with students one-on-one, in small groups, and workshops and retreats. With the help of two part-time assistants, they take on the enormous task of organizing more than 300 students volunteering in weekly groups, giving 10,000 hours of service at community organizations. They provide much needed space to students to reflect and connect while serving our community.
