The Community Centre Alliance (CCA) is helping to reduce poverty at the grassroots level, with a focus to help individuals move out of poverty, by providing programs and services related to education, literacy, employment and economic development.  Programs offered with CCA have been designed to remove system barriers facing low-income individuals and families and have been delivered to such people through a group of like-minded community centres that are located in Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Communities. Formed in 2002, CCA works directly with the five community centres located in Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation (NLHC) communities in the St. John’s area.

Our Community Employment Facilitators (CEF’s) provide guidance and support to individuals to help them participate in training, education and employment opportunities. Workshops and guest speakers are hosted in the community centres to provide residents with information about career and essential skill development topics. The CCA believes that with CEF’s working out of the 5 centres and a long term educational and employment readiness strategy, there will be greater numbers of people finding meaningful employment and increased opportunities for advancement, wellness and growth.
