Our Mission

St. Clare’s Multifaith Housing Society is a charitable organisation that develops and operates transitional, supportive and affordable housing.

St. Clare's supports the efforts of people who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness to obtain and maintain suitable housing and to acquire the skills they need to survive in today's society.

St. Clare's develops and operates social housing that aims to ensure all tenants receive appropriate supports to enable them to live independently. To this end, we work closely with our tenants to help them achieve residential stability, increase their skill levels and incomes, and obtain greater self-determination so they can exercise more influence over decisions that affect their lives.

About ST CLARE'S

St. Clare's is an innovative and prolific non-profit housing developer and provider. Since 2000, St. Clare's has developed 383 units of affordable housing. An additional 52 units are in the planning stage.

St. Clare’s was formed in 1998 by members of Toronto Action for Social Change, a social justice organisation, who intended to do something concrete about homelessness.  Today, we work in partnership with 17 of Toronto's Social service agencies to provide housing that has a diverse and integrated population in safe, accessible housing that is located close to services.

St. Clare’s innovative approach for using private sector strategies to achieve social goals has been recognised by the TD Bank, which described St. Clare’s project at 25 Leonard as being “a model for the new approach to building social housing”.
