  • proclaim Christ crucified, risen, alive in our midst
  • worship God in the beauty of Holiness, and Sing
  • demonstrate love for the neglected and outcast, and honour one another
  • celebrate the great tradition of the holy catholic Church, the saints past and present
  • are thankful and amazed.

About Our Parish

The Parish of St. Barnabas is a thankful, loving, musical, and prayerful community of 130 households located on the edge of Fernwood. Since 1890, St. Barnabas has represented the Anglo-Catholic tradition of Christian witness in Victoria. Our ministries contribute to the well-being of our surrounding community in three ways:
Outreach: Supporting First Nations, Immigrants, the street-involved, the under-employed.

We provide grocery store vouchers at our Friday Communion worship service. Each year St Barnabas also puts together approximately 30 Christmas hampers of food, clothing, and toys for local families in need. We also provide free counselling and organize meal trains to support families, individuals, and couples in times of distress, illness, and need.

Music:  Supporting the Arts

The St Barnabas choir sings a repertoire from composers of the 16th century to our own.  We support UVIC music students through our Choral Scholars program.  This scholarship helps the students with the costs of their education and provides them with exposure to an important tradition of choral music that is not commonly heard today.

Community Life: Supporting Families at every stage of life

Every Wednesday morning, St Barnabas hosts a parent and tot drop-in called The River.  All the toys and crafting materials are made from natural materials such as wood, felt and beeswax.  The children share a feast and a quiet time.  Parents, children, caretakers, and grandparents  find friendship and can access our support services.  Everyone who enters our doors is welcome, and there is no cost. Every Sunday at 12 we host our community lunch, an open table that provides opportunities for multi-generational relationships to grow.
