Our Mission
The SCCA is a registered non-profit society located on Cortes Island with the primary responsibility of operating the local community centre, Manson's Hall, and to promote services and programs of a recreational and/or educational purpose within the community.
About SOUTHERN CORTES COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION (SCCA)
Run by a volunteer Board of Directors and our Hall Manager, Manson's Hall provides space & support for the Manson's Landing Canada Post Office, Cortes Community Radio, Friends of Cortes Island (FOCI), Lakehouse Learning Society, Cortes Pottery Guild, Reel Youth's video production office, the SCCA Thrift Store and a weekly Friday Market for arts, crafts & food. The SCCA also organizes the Cortes Playschool, a Parents & Tots program, a Summer Youth Recreation Program, the annual Cortes Day at Smelt Bay and a community Christmas dinner. Manson's Hall is the primary venue for the Cortes Seniors Society's programs and for group meetings, entertainment events and a variety of regular wellness and exercise activities led by local residents. The SCCA also owns and manages the Manson's Landing cemetery.
As a registered charity with Revenue Canada, donations to the Southern Cortes Community Association are tax-deductible.
