Knowledge sparks change. This is why public education is 1 of the 2 cornerstones of South Shore Joint Initiative. Since 2018, we've invested in e-news, events and old-school print publications to increase knowledge and understanding about the rare biodiversity of PEC's South Shore.
Your $20 one-time or monthly donation will be used by our volunteer-led organization to create new & useful educational content. And fund our ongoing outreach efforts to shed light on why this unique area is so important to protect and preserve for future generations.
We'll invest in publications such as The South Shoreliner (which just celebrated issue #20 in Oct 2023) What's On Shore (our monthly e-news brief) and in useful, insightful & relevant outreach content.
About Us
Founded in 2018, we're a volunteer-led charity that's working to protect and preserve the South Shore of Prince Edward County, a place where biodiversity and people thrive. We educate and advocate for the conservation and restoration of South Shore’s lands and waters, which include 26 kilometres of undeveloped shoreline on the north side of Lake Ontario. In 2023, our advocacy work culminated in the creation of Monarch Point Conservation Reserve (CR), Ontario's first new CR since 1999!
We know that education is an essential building block for understanding. That's why we've published two Guides (1 free) and continuously share relevant and timely educational content with our 1,300+ subscribers.
We also offer FREE South Shore strolls throughout the year, where people enjoy the stunning views of Lake Ontario, learn about the rich biodiversity and heritage of the area, and meet our partner experts (wildlife photographers, biologists and conservation experts). Each Stroll presents hidden opportunities to observe unique landscapes, learn about fascinating species, including the iconic Blanding's Turtle, the beautiful Monarch Butterfly or new resident Bald Eagles.
Your $20 donation or monthly support will position us to continue delivering top quality educational content that's proven to spark change here in Prince Edward County.
