To provide 'sahaara' (support) to anyone in distress or need, to foster the spirit of human fellowship, and to facilitate the resettlement of immigrants to Canada.

Sahaara has a Drop-In Centre where everyone is welcome to visit for information and referrals. Visitors can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, socialize, or choose something to read from the Library.

Lay Counselling and Notary Public Services are also available upon request. All services are free of charge and can be made available in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.

There is an English Conversation Club for newcomers to practice their English. There is also a Newcomer's Welcome Club to introduce immigrants to places and events of interest around Edmonton and to foster their understanding of Canadian history and culture.

SAHAARA provides social and educational opportunities for the larger community. A Women's Social meets regularly and there are monthly potlucks suppers. Educational presentations on a variety of topics are held in conjunction with the potluck suppers. Subjects have included alternative medicine, income tax tips, stress management and resources at the library.
