SickNotWeak was founded by Michael Landsberg in 2016 to drag society’s view and treatment of mental illness from the 1960’s to the present day.
OUR MISSION
SickNotWeak lives to bring comfort to the lonely, hope to the hopeless, and strength to those who believe they are weak. SickNotWeak understands that comfort, hope, and strength seldom come as a result of the number of people around us, but rather the number of people who understand us.
SickNotWeak is spearheading a revolution to end the cruelty, insensitivity and bias in a world that still sees mental illness as being self inflicted weakness.
OUR VISION
A world where those with mental illness feel less shame and embarrassment and where those who care about them have a better understanding of how they can help.
OUR GOAL
To help people understand that mental illness is a sickness not a weakness.
OUR OBJECTIVES
- To increase the number of people sharing an illness that they have previously kept private.
- To have more people reaching out for treatment who had previously gone untreated.
- For those who suffer to feel less shame and embarrassment.
- For caregivers to have a better understanding of how they can best offer help to people they care about.
- For employers to see and treat mental illness in a similar way to physical illness.
- For companies (big and small, public or private) to improve their bottom line through a better understanding of mental health.
- To bring attention to the devastating crisis of suicide.
