Sherbourne has always believed that nutrition is an important part of a person’s overall well-being. So, early last year Sherbourne developed Food for Good, an initiative aimed at creating opportunities that increase access to food and connect people to community. Our new initiative integrates the many food and support programs Sherbourne currently provides and lays the foundation for further growth as we address the escalating issues of food insecurity and social isolation.
During the COVID-19 crisis, we reached out to community partners to help us provide healthy meals for our clients facing food insecurity during the pandemic. With the assistance of Second Harvest and FoodShare, we have begun to create food hampers containing essential and nutritious goods that, due to social distancing, can be picked up at our facility or delivered by volunteers to in-bound clients. We are also creating takeaway lunches for clients of our Women in Need ‘Klinik’ (WINK), Supporting Our Youth (SOY) and Acute Respite Care (ARC).
You too can help Sherbourne provide individuals and families facing food insecurity with the sustenance and support they need during this healthcare crisis by giving today.
Special thanks to:
Our Food for Good community partners for their generous support during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has allowed us to continue to provide safe, essential care to our clients and communities: Community Foundations of Canada, FoodShare, Good Food Access Fund, La Fondation Emmanuelle Gattuso, Second Harvest, TD Bank and Tippet Foundation.
The Deloitte Creative Team for providing pro bono services towards the design and production of the Food for Good visual identity and poster campaign.
