We champion the universal right to basic needs such as safe shelter, nutritious food, and clothing. We are committed to working in partnership to achieve societal change.
About SHELTER HOUSE THUNDER BAY
Shelter House is proud to call Rotary Shelter House, located at 420 George St., it's home. The shelter was built with the tremendous support of our caring community and opened its doors on September 25, 2006.
Shelter House Thunder Bay acts as a lifeline and stepping stone for hundreds of individuals who are experiencing houselessness and food insecurity. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, this 62 bed emergency shelter responds to the needs of those living experiencing houselessness by providing shelter, food, clothing and access to resources to support their journey.
In a year, Shelter House supports over 750 unique individuals experiencing houselessness in the City of Thunder Bay as well as providing over 362 hot meals a day. It costs Shelter House approximately $71 a night per person accessing our shelter.
