SPAO is calling on you to support the next generation of photo-based artists!

We are asking our community to help us raise $15,000 for the Artistic Pathways Fund, half of the amount required to maintain targeted financial programs and bursaries for a three year period. SPAO is willing to do whatever we can to guarantee these vital programs continue, including asking our community for support. 

Inflation is at an all time high, Ottawa rent is beyond comprehension, and SPAO is still recovering from financial challenges of the pandemic. The previous year has shown that many of our community members are experiencing hardship like never before. The SPAO team would never have thought that we would be providing food for students that were faced with the impossible choice of pursuing their artistic careers or buying groceries. Some of this generation’s most promising artistic voices will never be able to pursue their calling unless we come together to help.

From now until December 31, 2023, donations to the Artistic Pathways Fund will help support the following programs:

• Solstice Bursary - supporting SPAO students from marginalized communities 
• Spectrum Bursary - supporting SPAO Artists in Residence from marginalized communities 
• Jason Michaels Bursary - supporting a SPAO Artist in Residence in financial need
• Youth Foundation Initiative - first SPAO Foundation Class is free for all youth 

Without your support we will not be able to maintain these important initiatives. 

There are numerous ways to give your support, here are the three main ways to make an impact:

1. Become a monthly donor: Even a small monthly amount makes a significant difference
2. Buy a brick: Proudly immortalize your name or the name of someone you love on the SPAO Donor Legacy Wall. 
3. Make a targeted donation to the program of your choice
