The Salmon Arm ROOTSandBLUES Festival is the largest, most musically diverse festival in the BC Interior. Over the years it has gained an outstanding reputation for the variety and quality of its presentations and for the high standard of its organization.
The Festival began in 1992 as a small indoor festival, a result of the grassroots Shuswap Coffee House collective of the 1970’s and 80’s, which by 1991 had coalesced into the not-for-profit Salmon Arm Folk Music Society.
The mandate of the S.A.F.M.S. includes encouraging and promoting performers from all parts of the world (with a special emphasis on Canadian talent), and introducing audiences to the world’s many diverse genres of music, musical instruments, and the artists who play them. Supporters of the ROOTSandBLUES Festival are directly helping to foster the growth and development of music in our community, country, and by extension, our world.
