About SHAW CENTRE FOR THE SALISH SEA
The Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea is a unique aquarium and learning centre perfectly situated on the traditional lands of the WSÁNEC Nations of the Coast Salish Indigenous Peoples on the oceanfront in Sidney, BC. The Centre is a vital Canadian not-for-profit and community-based organization with a vision for a healthy and sustainable Salish Sea Bioregion and a mission to create experiences that engage people to learn about, explore and conserve the Salish Sea – its wildlife, waters, land, culture, and people. Open seven days a week year-round, the Centre offers an incredible opportunity for the public to experience over 3,500 animals representing more than 160 marine species, including a Giant Pacific Octopus, through live natural aquaria habitats, daily public and school programs, interpretive exhibits (including Coast Salish art and marine mammal artifacts), and the Salish Sea Store.
