RMHC Keeps Families Close

Did you know that 65% of Canadian families live outside a city with a children’s hospital? So when a child gets sick, they often have to travel hours to get treatment. Our 15 Ronald McDonald Houses across Canada give families a place to stay close to the hospital where their child is being treated. 16 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located in hospitals across the country give families a place to rest and relax just steps from their child's bedside.

Away from home, family and every day support systems, Ronald McDonald Houses and Family Rooms provide a supportive and caring environment and accommodation for the whole family, keeping them together and close to their sick child. A key contributor to a family-centred approach to health care for seriously ill children, RMHC helps to ease the family burden during this difficult, unexpected and often long healing journey.

Today, coast to coast across Canada, RMHC supports more than 25,000 families each year, one family at a time.  Since the first House opened in Toronto in 1981, we have helped support over 347,798 families on their child’s healing journey.
