River Clyde Arts (RCA) ignites the creativity and imagination of rural PEI communities through ambitious and awe-inspiring outdoor performances and art events that celebrate the diverse cultures, ecologies and histories of the Island. Established in 2016, River Clyde Arts has made a transformative impact upon PEI’s arts ecosystem, and is nationally recognized as a leading organization in the field of art for social change.
The theatre we create is world class yet firmly situated in place and community. It is joyful, magical and heartening, while also confronting the heaviest crises of our times - the climate crisis, colonization, and social fragmentation. Its power lies within its ability to do what only great art can do: simultaneously confront and console, uplift and upend, teach and empower.
The River Clyde Arts Season includes three core programs that run from May through December. The flagship event is the River Clyde Pageant (established in 2016), which rallies hundreds of local creatives, volunteers and professional artists of all ages in the making of each summer’s dynamic outdoor spectacle. Complementing the Pageant is the vibrant and eclectic Sharing the Field harvest festival (est. 2021), and the River Clyde Solstice Walk (est. 2020) in November and December.
