Ready for ACTION! 

Meet CPR No. 5500!  Canada’s first high-horsepower diesel locomotive, 5500 launched an important era in Canadian railway history and is the first of what became a huge fleet throughout CPR.  Today’s powerful diesel locomotives are the descendants of No. 5500 and her sisters.

Received by the Revelstoke Railway Museum over a decade ago, time and the elements have not been kind to No. 5500.

We are launching a 30^th Anniversary project to cosmetically restore No. 5500 to the familiar “Action Red” colours she wore for over 40 years, with a permanent roof structure to preserve her for future generations.  A generous individual donor has committed to pay for the entire roof structure…so all we need to do is raise money for the locomotive’s restoration!
