Trauma informed care is about seeing the patient as a whole person whose emotional needs must be met for care to succeed. It is the recognition that all patients, and especially those who have experienced intimate partner violence, carry their trauma with them in complex, physiological ways.
Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Ruth Lanius, MD, PhD - is a renowned world expert in the field of traumatic stress. In this workshop she will discuss the complex adaptations to psychological trauma in response to gender based violence, its implications for healthcare, and the practical approaches aimed at reducing suffering and facilitating successful healthcare interventions.
