The Promise Walk for Preeclampsia™ is a fundraising initiative for Preeclampsia Foundation Canada that supports their mission to reduce maternal and infant illness and death due to preeclampsia, HELLP Syndrome and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy through education, public awareness and research.
This cause is extremely important to us as I was diagnosed with preeclampsia at 32 weeks pregnant and the only cure was to deliver the baby. Thankfully Hudson was safe and healthy but I was then diagnosed with HELLP syndrome and had to receive blood transfusions during and after labour as my platelets were dropping and could be life threatening. Thankfully we were both ok but preeclampsia affects 5-8% of all pregnancies and is one of the least funded areas of research.
