Pedvac Foundation provides a variety of programs and services to the village of Port Elgin and the surrounding rural Strait Shores area. These include a food bank, school lunch program, Christmas boxes campaign, used clothing and household goods store, income tax preparation, literacy program, individual & community advocacy, cooking and wellness classes, and more.
With a 12-member board, and more than 50 volunteers, Pedvac also employs several full-time and part-time employees. The organization was established in 1984 and operates out of its own 6,000 square foot facility.
Pedvac strongly believes in working proactively to eliminate poverty and bring about change in the area and works in collaboration with other not-for-profits, businesses, individuals, and governments to meet this challenge.
Pedvac’s efforts over the years have not gone unrecognized. The social service agency has received a multitude of awards, including the Milton F. Conservation Award, the New Brunswick Family Award, the Robert Hall Community Activism Award, the United Way Agent of Change Award, among others.
