About Partners for International Development (PfID)

PfID is the charity that manages the health and education projects that were initiated by the program alumni of its sister non-profit corporation, Students for International Development (SID). PfID was incorporated in 2013, though many of our projects were started as early as 2008.

We are a small volunteer-run organization. In Canada, our leadership team is comprised of young professionals who have all worked in the communities we serve. Internationally, our field teams include foreign and local volunteers, local employees, and stakeholders from carefully selected local NGOs with whom we partner to foster long-term local ownership and support for our projects. 

Although we are small, we are proud of the impact and cost-effectiveness of our programs. For example:

- Our orphan sponsorship program in Kenya has helped our sponsored kids achieve a 100% pass rate on the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (vs. a national average < 50% for rural public school children), and we run this program for just $80 per child per year

- We have been able to build government-approved healthcare facility infrastructure for under $200 CAD per square meter, or roughly half the cost typically incurred through public works projects in East Africa

We achieve these results through strong time commitments from full-time volunteer project managers, pro-bono professionals, and supporters within the communities where we work.
