Overview

Ottawa Friends of Tibet (OFT) welcomes you to celebrate Tibetan culture in the nation's capital.  Please join us for an afternoon of traditional Tibetan food, dance, and merriment...not to mention shopping!

Please take this opportunity to support a very worthy cause at the same time as you experience Tibetan cuisine, culture, and arts.  It is also an opportunity to meet the Ottawa-based Tibetan Community and OFT's Board of Directors.

Your participation could make a world of difference in the lives of Tibetan refugees, students, and communities.

Details

Please join OFT's Board of Directors for an in-person, inspirational, and heartwarming gathering.

Come and savour light and delicious traditional Tibetan foods, from momos (steamed dumplings) to sweet rice dessert and tea.

Sit back and watch a Tibetan dance performance by members of the Tibetan community of Ottawa, who will then lead us in a circle dance for all to join in.

Yet again this year, OFT's now renowned Himalayan Bazaar and Silent Auction will feature a wide array of high quality and unique treasures -- jewellery, singing bowls, thankas and many other collectables and wearables, mostly from the Himalayan region.

Learn about OFT's work through a slide show of images from its current projects, presented by its Board Members.

You will discover that the Tibetan community of Ottawa is vibrant and working hard to preserve its rich cultural heritage!  Please come and see for yourself...

About This Charity

Ottawa Friends of Tibet (OFT) was founded in 1996 by Jurme and Angela Wangda and a small group of committed volunteers as a non-political organization dedicated to improving  the  health, education, and economic conditions of Tibetans and Tibetan refugees in India and elsewhere.  In 2001, OFT became a federally registered charity. It is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. OFT's mission is to serve disadvantaged Tibetan children, men and women and to increase public awareness and appreciation of Tibetan culture.
