Our Story
The award-winning Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra inspires young musicians to achieve excellence through a love of music, while also helping them develop self-esteem, discipline, teamwork, leadership and performance skills.
We are directly affiliated with the prestigious Oakville Symphony, providing further opportunities for our musicians to learn and grow. The orchestra evolved from the merger of the Halton Youth Symphony and the Mississauga Youth Orchestra - and the orchestra has inspired more than 4,000 young musicians over its combined history of 70 years.
Our Mission
The Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra is a diverse community welcoming children and youth to a progressive orchestral experience that ignites, encourages and enriches a life-long love of music.
Our Vision
The Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra will become a prominent youth orchestra by
- Enriching the diversity and quality of the experience for both its musicians and patrons/audiences;
- Expanding its engagement and community-building across its members/musicians, their families, and the Region; and
