OTEI STANDING TOGETHER FOR UNITY, SHARING AND LOVE
ABOUT
OTEI is a Quebec based charitable no-profit organization with a mission to foster collaboration, sustainable economic development and social solidarity within Afro-descendant communities.
OTEI works with strategic partners within an intercultural framework to establish central fundraising, oversee community-led philanthropy and lead community and humanitarian interventions for vulnerable populations.
Originally founded in 1986 as La cellule de réveil de la communauté haïtienne, Organisation Têtes Ensemble International (OTEI) was born in the Outaouais region of Québec, on Anishinaabe territory. Rapidly gaining traction and support from the local community, OTEI’s remarkable impact was felt on-site and overseas.
In Ayiti, past and present programs range from building infrastructures such as schools, clinics and wells. Efforts were made to develop curriculums and personal development programs with local educators against illiteracy and promote trades learning.
In Tiohtià:ke, also known as Montreal, OTEI first focussed on intervening in urban centers through food and clothing distribution and guidance to accessing adapted services or care via other allied organizations.
THE REST PROJECT
OTEI along with regional and international partners are developing a socio-cultural research and public health initiative that strives to democratize rest while harnessing its power to heal, restore and unite. Mobilizing data, culture and communal care, The Rest Project is a network of unique, accessible spaces for individuals in need of true rest and restoration..
Space(s) to restore, innovate and collectively dream together.
OTEI is proud to announce its new strategic partnerships for the realization of the Rest Project.

NOULA
In 1804, Ayiti was declared an independent country following the Haitian Revolution, defeating colonialism and the slave trade. The victory of 1804 and the constitution drafted in 1805 positioned Ayiti at the vanguard of Human Rights. By abolishing a dehumanizing system of human trafficking which rendered men, women and children as capital, Ayiti stood up when the rest of the world failed to. This legacy is the engine of OTEI, with values and principles instilled by our ancestors, continuing to frame and inform our dreams, our collaborations and our initiatives.
Nou te la 1804.
#NOUSLA2024
The bond which exists between AYITI and Kebec also known as Québec is foundational to OTEI’s approach, programming and interventions.
Historically, both territories evolved within an intercultural context created by the convergence of peoples with distinct identities, cultural specificities and traditions.
As of 2024, OTEI is reinforcing this bond between territories and calling on a reimagining of collective futures in order to create concrete mechanisms of security, solidarity, support and authentic (be)longing for all.
Join us as we scale our vision to promote socio-economic inclusion, self-determination of vulnerable populations and a legacy of always putting people first.
