Campaign Ended February 28, 2022
We are participating in Operation Come Home's $24 Challenge this year. We will be living for the week of February 6th-12th on just $24 worth of food per person. We are highlighting the difficulties that face the young people served by Operation Come Home who are experiencing homelessness, putting the focus on food insecurity, the high cost of poverty, and the difficulties experienced by people in our community who are underemployed and who have insecure housing.
If a person can get housed in the cheapest apartment in Ottawa, can get a job that provides 20 hours per week at minimum wage, and is able to get all the assistance available to them (Ontario Works, City of Ottawa housing subsidies), they will still be left with about $24 per week to spend on food.
Join us or follow us on this challenge and, if you can, please consider making a donation to help prevent homeless youth from becoming homeless adults.
