Hello everyone! Once again I will be participating in the $24 Challenge. For the week of February 6th-12th, I will live on just $24 worth of food. We are highlighting the difficulties that face the young people served by Operation Come Home who are experiencing homelessness, putting the focus on food insecurity, the high cost of poverty, and the difficulties experienced by people in our community who are underemployed and who have insecure housing.
If a person can get housed in the cheapest apartment in Ottawa, can get a job that provides 20 hours per week at minimum wage, and is able to get all the assistance available to them (Ontario Works, City of Ottawa housing subsidies), they will still be left with about $24 per week to spend on food.
This year I have set a higher personal fundraising goal for myself. Thank you so much to everyone who supported me last year, and I hope you consider supporting me again in 2022!
